What you should know: Mulberry Talent Partners is partnering with a family-owned and operated company to identify Benefits & Compensation Manager for their growing HR team. They are a wholesale beverage distribution company operating in six states and employ just under 2500 employees. Reporting to the SVP of Human Resources this is a newly created role to accommodate company growth and ensure employees receive fair and competitive total compensation. This role ensures the effective design, implementation, maintenance and administration of these programs and approves wage and salary actions in consultation with managers. Responsible for management and administration of direct and incentive compensation and health, dental, vision and 401(k) plans and oversight of team.
A day in the life:
- Consult with operations and recruitment personnel to ensure alignment of compensation and benefits programs with recruitment strategies to attract quality candidates.
- Participate in selected compensation and benefits surveys on behalf of the organization.
- Research market trends to evaluate the competitiveness of total compensation. Based upon analysis of benchmarking data, assist in the determination of market positioning for total compensation relative to specific competitors for talent and the market overall.
- Conduct periodic internal surveys to assess employee satisfaction with pay and benefits.
- Manage the organization’s direct and incentive compensation programs in ways that yield the highest value for the organization and ensure compliance with state and federal law, including pay equity.
- Create salary administration programs that establish pay grades and criteria for salary increases and promotion. Manage the annual merit and cost-of-living programs, as appropriate.
- Price jobs consistent with the organization’s goals for market positioning.
- Track and report on compensation decisions made relative to budget targets, with an emphasis on exception reporting and trends.
- Work with hiring managers to draft job descriptions, conduct job analyses, and make job classification determinations consistent with the FLSA and state laws.
- Manage employee benefit programs, including Health, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) plans, ensuring compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
- Lead annual open enrollment process.
- Participate in the selection and periodic assessment of benefits brokers, insurance carriers and third-party administrators.
- Manage medical leaves of absence/paid leave programs.
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of employee benefit programs.
- Process benefit payments.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar area of study. Combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered.
- 3-5 years of relevant employee benefits and compensation management experience.
- Advanced MS Office and Excel experience.
- Multi-state compensation and benefits experience required.
- Experience building and pricing job descriptions using industry best practices.
- Experience with HRIS, compensation, and payroll system ideally UKG.
Compensation and Benefits: $100-$125K DOE. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and other wellness benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, 401k with employer match and opportunity to work a flexible hybrid schedule.
