This is not a traditional firm environment: You’ll step into a high-impact role with real ownership over complex tax review and delivery while also helping to shape how the function evolves.
The role is ideal for someone coming from a mid-to-large firm who enjoys the technical side of tax, but is looking for more autonomy, visibility, and the ability to see their direct impact on both clients and the business.

A day in the life:
Lead Complex Tax Review
- Perform hands-on, high-volume review of business tax returns (S Corps, C Corps, Partnerships, Schedule C)
- Evaluate and defend tax positions across federal and state jurisdictions
- Navigate complex IRS and state tax matters with confidence
Build Scalable Processes
- Design and improve tax review workflows and quality control processes
- Standardize methodologies to drive consistency and efficiency
- Help create infrastructure that can scale across a growing platform
Player-Coach Leadership
- Lead by example—remain hands-on while mentoring and developing junior staff
- Review work, provide feedback, and elevate overall team capability
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Drive Ownership & Growth
- Operate with an ownership mindset—identify gaps and step in where needed
- Partner with leadership on firm growth and operational strategy
- Support client relationships and contribute to organic business development
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- 8+ years of tax experience, ideally within a mid-to-large public accounting firm
- Strong technical expertise across business returns (S Corps, C Corps, Partnerships)
- Proven experience reviewing high volumes of complex tax work
- Track record of improving processes or building scalable workflows
- Experience mentoring or leading junior staff in a hands-on capacity
- CPA strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits: $125-$165K in annual compensation commensurate with experience + bonus and benefits.
