What you should know: Mulberry is partnering with one of North America’s largest wholesale distributors of forest products and building materials to hire a part-time Payroll Specialist. The company has a strong, people-focused culture, with an impressive average employee tenure of 13 years! Working 20 hours per week, you’ll process payroll for the corporate office and provide semi-monthly payroll support for 10 multi-state operations. You’ll collaborate closely with HR and Corporate Controllers, managing payroll tasks and acting as a key point of contact for employees. This position reports to the VP of Human Resources, offering the chance to join a supportive, tight-knit team.
A day in the life:
- Process full cycle payroll activities for exempt and non-exempt employees around compensation, commissions, bonus payments, benefit deductions, and new hires and terminations.
- Serve as a point of contact to employees in all payroll and benefits related questions and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of employee hours, pay data, and any payroll discrepancies, making necessary corrections as needed.
- Ensure the accuracy of taxes, garnishments, deductions, and employee changes, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Process and submit withheld deductions (401k & HSA) and Workers Compensation payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collect and retain payroll reports for review.
- Support various payroll projects, including bonuses, commissions, and other compensation-related tasks.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing
- Experience managing payroll across multiple states
- Basic understanding of payroll taxes preferred
- Familiarity with iSolved software is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye for detail
Compensation and Benefits: $35 – $40 per hour. As a contract employee you will have access to benefits through our payroll partner including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid sick time and more.
