What you should know: Mulberry is partnering with a long-standing manufacturing organization in Clackamas, OR to hire an HR Assistant to support day-to-day people operations at a busy, onsite facility. This role is highly employee-facing and plays a key part in creating a positive first impression—from supporting onboarding and new hire readiness to assisting employees with timecards, documentation, and general HR questions.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Assistant will work closely with a collaborative HR team to support compliance, HR administration, and leave-of-absence coordination. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer-service mindset, solid attention to detail, and the ability to build trust with a diverse, blue-collar workforce in a fast-paced environment. A day in the life:
Onboarding & New Hire Experience
- Coordinate onboarding from offer acceptance through first day readiness.
- Prepare and manage new hire paperwork and ensure timely completion of all required documents.
- Support and/or facilitate new hire orientation, creating a welcoming and organized experience.
- Partner with hiring managers and HR to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
HR Administration & Document Control
- Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready employee files (including I-9s and personnel records).
- Own document control processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Enter and maintain employee data across HR systems with a high level of attention to detail.
Compliance & HR Fundamentals
- Learn and apply HR practices aligned with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support compliance-related processes, audits, and reporting.
- Partner with HR team members to ensure policies and practices are consistently followed.
Leaves of Absence Support
- Provide administrative support for leave of absence processes (FMLA, state leaves, etc.).
- Track, document, and maintain communication related to employee leaves.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable laws while supporting a positive employee experience.
Team & Employee Support
- Serve as a reliable first point of contact for employee questions and HR processes.
- Support team initiatives, communications, and employee engagement efforts.
- Assist the HR team with day-to-day coordination, scheduling, and administrative needs.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Some hands-on HR experience required
- Must be a problem-solver, resourceful, flexible, able to prioritize, high attention to detail, able to maintain confidentiality, strong communication skills
Compensation and Benefits: $26-$30/HR plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k, PTO, and more!
