What you should know: Mulberry is partnering with our longtime client, a 60-year established manufacturing company with locations in multiple states to identify a Health & Safety Manager for their plant in South Gate, CA. The Health and Safety Manager will work with plant leadership, frontline employees, and the Senior Health and Safety Manager to build and support a proactive safety culture. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, implementing effective safety programs, and serving as the primary on-site resource for health and safety initiatives. Act as a boots-on-the-ground partner, driving engagement and accountability at all levels of the plant while aligning with the company’s overall safety strategy.
A day in the life:
- Champion a safety-first culture by engaging with employees, supervisors, and plant leadership to embed safe work practices into daily operations.
- Partner with plant leadership and the Senior Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement safety programs that align with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying hazards, analyzing trends, and collaborating with operations to implement corrective actions.
- Drive employee involvement in safety programs, including leading safety committees, encouraging proactive hazard reporting, and facilitating behavior-based safety initiatives.

- Conducts and oversees plant safety audits, risk assessments, and workplace hazard evaluations, recommending corrective measures as needed.
- Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and documentation to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
- Lead accident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs for all employees, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Serves as a key liaison between the plant and the Senior Health and Safety Manager.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- A bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related
- 3-5 years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard assessments, and safety program implementation is essential.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development is required. Expert knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and industry-specific safety regulations
- The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with plant leadership and frontline employees to drive safety initiatives. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
Compensation and Benefits: $95-115K in annual compensation plus bonus. Benefits include comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision plans. 401K, FSA, life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and complimentary financial wellness planning services.
