Key Responsibilities:
Board Administration, Strategy & Operations
- Partner with the Board of Directors to shape and execute the organization’s vision and strategic plan.
- Provide long- and short-term strategic recommendations and updates that support mission-aligned programs and services.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration with the board and committees, ensuring they are informed and engaged.
- Bring a disciplined approach to organizational operations, ensuring strategy is translated into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and effective execution.
- Strengthen internal systems, processes, and infrastructure to support scale, sustainability, and mission impact.
- Lead cross-functional planning to align programs, staff, and resources with strategic goals and community needs.
Equity & Inclusion
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across all organizational practices and decisions.
- Lead with cultural humility and foster a culture of belonging and accountability.
- Identify and remove barriers to equitable access and opportunity.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support leadership team, ensuring clarity, accountability, and aligned performance.
- Conduct regular evaluations and uphold consistent HR and performance standards.
Financial Oversight
- Oversee policy development and compliance with board directives and funding requirements.
- Ensure fiscal health through budgeting, financial planning, and stewardship of resources.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
Resource Development
- Support development of diversified fundraising strategies with the board and leadership team.
- Drive achievement of annual fundraising goals.
- Build and steward relationships with major funders and donors.
Community Relations & Advocacy
- Serve as a visible, trusted representative of the organization and its mission.
- Build strong relationships with community partners through empathy, authenticity, and collaboration.
- Lead advocacy initiatives and strengthen partnerships that advance equitable access to services and opportunities.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field preferred; may be substituted for equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive professional managerial experience in social service nonprofit organizations.
- Experience managing a complex primarily publicly funded $5+ million-dollar budget including a general knowledge of public accounting principles.
- Strong business acumen able to bridge the mission of the organization with operational excellence and compliance.
- Professional experience supporting boards of directors to achieve governance excellence.
- Demonstrated success with fund development, including knowledge of and success in attracting public, foundation, and corporate grants; ability to identify, steward, and solicit major donors.
- Deep community connections to build partnerships and coalitions.
