We are seeking a hands-on and strategic accounting and finance leader—someone who can provide operational leadership today and grow into the CFO role in the future. This is a great opportunity for a values-driven Controller ready to step into a key leadership position with long-term potential.
Important note: This role is primarily onsite. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to the mountain 4–5 days per week, particularly during peak winter operations.
A day in the life:
As the leader responsible for the success of the accounting department, you will:
- Oversee all general accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, benefit expense reconciliation, and monthly close and consolidation
- Directly manage payroll and benefits administration
- Develop and execute departmental strategies, goals, and performance metrics
- Lead monthly reconciliations for significant balance sheet accounts and support tax planning and reporting
- Review financial results and provide insight into fixed and variable cost management
- Coach, develop, and mentor accounting staff; oversee annual performance reviews and compensation adjustments
- Ensure strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and support operational integrity
- Support banking relationships, including borrowings, repayments, and compliance forecasting
- Administer the company’s 401(k) program and manage the annual audit process
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including 1+ year in a Controller or equivalent leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- MBA, CMA, or CPA (active or inactive) preferred
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office; experience with NetSuite and/or Dayforce is a plus
- Ability to lead in a seasonal, operationally complex environment
- A collaborative leadership style and interest in long-term growth within the organization
