Mulberry is partnering with our longtime client a family-owned company with roots as far back as 1855 for a Director of Lumber Operations.  This is a senior level, key role with direct succession planning to grow into VP of Operations over the next five years.  You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer as you join the organization.  They are an admired leader in their industry committed to sustainable forestry.

A day in the life:

  • Lead and manage retail and lumber mill operations with safety ensuring both employee safety and environmental compliance.
  • Accountable for profitable financial performance of assigned operations including developing robust operating budgets.
  • Alongside the COO, identify long and short-term opportunities for capital development and improvements overseeing purchase, installation and startup of equipment.
  • Collaborate with managers to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure implementation of best practices to enhance overall efficiencies and productivity.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish goals/objectives/KPI’s.
  • Initiate, investigate, review, and follow up on possible value-added activities/process improvements/ efficient use of raw materials that are beneficial to the business.
  • Consistent, often weekly travel to remote locations via company plane.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in wood products or heavy industrial manufacturing setting
  • 5+ years of successful management experience with emphasis on team engagement, collaboration and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Operational leadership with prior success developing effective operating strategies and effective monitoring systems.
  • Evidence of ability to Foster a culture of data driven, continuously improving, and innovative process design across the company.

Compensation: $165,000-$180,000/year + annual 15% bonus incentive
