What you should know: Mulberry has partnered with a local non-profit organization to hire an Accountant. You will report to the Director of Finance and Assistant Treasurer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who’s energized by mission-driven work and ready to make a meaningful impact. The role itself blends hands-on accounting with process improvement, financial analysis, and internal support. A day in the life:
- Perform general fund accounting and other related duties for the organization and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, potential risks and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with other departments on financial matters
- Monitor accounts payable and ensure payments are verified, complete and charged to the appropriate accounts
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; monitor accounts receivable collections
- Oversee invoicing system related to apportionments and benefit payments
- Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address bank inquiries
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with both internal and external audits; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit, and address audit findings
- File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures; streamline workflows
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting regulations, practices and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- 4+ years of experience as an accountant
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Non-profit experience preferred
- Must be highly organized, able to multi-task, prioritize, and be a strong communicator
Compensation and Benefits: $35/HR. Non-exempt role working 35-40 hours per week. Benefits include strong medical, dental, and vision insurance, strong retirement contributions, PTO, and more!
