Employee Relations Specialist – Direct Hire – NW Portland

Mulberry Talent Partners has joined with our client in NW Portland to identify an Employee Relations Specialist for a direct hire role. In this position, you will support the Human Resource department by providing support to the employee relations functions. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ employee relations experience within an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities at a glance:

  • Responsibilities include; coaching and counseling, appraising performance, maintaining effective communications and positive employee relations for manufacturing & office employees
  • Investigates and reports on employee complaints and concerns
  • Conducts internal investigations
  • Handles the employee termination process and represents the company in unemployment hearings
  • Monitors career path programs and the annual performance review process
  • Handles exit interviews
  • Assist in the selection and development of teaching aids, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and online training, reference material and continuing education for positive employee relations
  • Conducts Team Member related investigations, including highly sensitive issues of harassment and discrimination
  • Communicates daily and weekly terminations with appropriate departments and processes in HR Systems
  • Plans and executes a variety of Team Member events and partners with other HR professionals to develop high performance work teams

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of human resources experience in an employee relations setting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Applied Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Relations or another relevant field
  • PHR/SPHR Certification preferred
    Knowledge of current employee relations practices, as well as State & Federal labor & employment law
    Must be results driven and provide a high quality of work
    Must be able to prioritize workload and multi-task assignments when facing a deadline
    May be required to work evenings or weekends, as business demands dictate
    Previous experience working with ADP is a plus
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees and external contacts.
  • Previous experience working with a 500+ employee size population in a manufacturing environment a plus
