Mulberry Talent Partners has joined with our client, a company located in Portland, OR to identify an HRIS & Benefits Administrator. This is a hybrid, full-time, direct hire role. The client is seeking a highly motivated HRIS & Benefits Administrator to work with the HR Operations team to enhance the performance of the HR technologies and provide benefits support for internal employees. This role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity.

Your Role:


  • Manage multiple and simultaneous projects dealing with the administration of the HRIS application and/or associated modules (Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Performance Management, Web Portal, Reporting, etc.)
  • Streamline user experience and ensure our HRIS systems meet the needs of the business
  • Implement updates associated with business requirements
  • Serves as a liaison with IT/Benefits/Payroll and third parties (e.g., benefit vendors)
  • Work with HRIS vendors to maintain, update, and create file feeds
  • Evaluate HR Systems to identity and recommend processes and customer service improvements, innovative solutions, and/or alternate methodologies or policy changes
  • Evaluate, maintain, and improve business intelligence reports and dashboards
  • Perform system maintenance, including review, test, and roll out of the HR systems
  • Provides ongoing system setup and data maintenance
  • Ensuring that files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and company policies and procedures


  • Coordinates and administers medical, dental, vision, cobra, disability, life insurance, and 401(k) programs to effectively support employees and to ensure benefits are properly administered
  • Assist third party broker to provide all needed data to analyze funding arrangements for benefits plans
  • May participate in identifying and selecting carriers and plans based on quotes, available benefits, and prior experience
  • Initial point-of-contact for benefit questions for employees, managers, and benefit vendors
  • Advises and informs employees of changes related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions
  • Updates HRIS and benefit systems with new enrollments and changes
  • Assist with administering company’s wellness program and incentives, which may include the coordination of related employee events
  • Facilitates the Open Enrollment process
  • Ensures all employee benefit plan information is current and accessible
  • Ensures timely completion of annual compliance testing and reporting 5500
  • Assist the HR Director in ensuring benefits plan administration complies to applicable laws (e.g., HIPAA, ERISA)
  • Conduct annual benefits survey to evaluate and recommend changes to various benefit programs


  • Compiles compensation data utilizing market data and HRIS tools
  • Works with the CHRO and Director of HR to support the continuous development and implementation of compensation policies, best practices, and process improvements
  • Assists with maintenance and tracking all appropriate documentation for compensation and benefits compliance reporting
  • Assist with maintenance/updating job descriptions associated with new roles and review outcomes
  • Assist as a backup for payroll support

Additional HR Support

  • Support procedural documentation, annual audits, and filings activities
  • Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies such as EEO-1C, etc.
  • Assists in administering leave of absences, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws
  • Remain current on industry trends and information, legislation, coverages, etc.
  • Maintain company scorecard information
  • Other duties as assigned

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of professional benefits administration experience preferred
  • 2+ years of professional HRIS systems experience required; Solid functional experience with UKG (Formerly UltiPro), Culture Amp, Salesforce, or similar platforms a plus
  • Experience providing user support and training, system management and optimization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong working knowledge of PC skills: Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and web applications
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternate solutions, and act on recommendations to reach desired results
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to follow through on tasks
  • Strong experience in project and process management skill
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams and across departments and functions
  • Hybrid work environment in Portland, OR offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility
  • Normal office environment/desk assignment
  • Extensive use of PC’s, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
  • Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
  • Minimal travel (estimated <5%)

Compensation Rate: $75,000 – $80,000 annually
